Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao has directed senior officials to finalize the Employee Health Scheme (EHS) policy framework for state government employees. Reviewing the proposed guidelines at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat on Monday, the CS emphasized that the policy is being prepared as per the instructions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Officials have been asked to study similar health schemes implemented in other states and review insurance companies’ policies before submitting a comprehensive report. The scheme is expected to provide cashless health care services for government employees and their families, with employees willing to contribute a portion of their salary toward the program.
According to estimates, a total of 7,14,322 beneficiaries, including government employees and pensioners, will be covered under EHS. The annual cost of implementing the scheme is projected at ₹1,300 crore, which will be managed through coordination between the Health and Finance Departments.
The review meeting was attended by senior officials, including Special Chief Secretary (Home) Ravi Gupta, Finance Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Education Secretary Dr. Yogita Rana, Health Secretary Dr. Christina Chongthu, and GAD Secretary Benhur Mahesh Dutt Ekka. The Chief Secretary stressed the need to expedite the report so that the scheme can be rolled out at the earliest.
